Hooghly Engineering College: Placement and Academics are a Big Letdown

Likes

  • Some dedicated faculty members
  • Decent canteen food
  • Easy access from Hooghly
  • Affordable compared to private colleges

Dislikes

  • Poor placement record
  • Outdated syllabus
  • Lack of internship opportunities
  • Poor infrastructure and facilities
  • Class Size :
  • Course Fees : INR per year

College Internship Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are almost non-existent. The college doesn't really help you find internships, so you're on your own. Most students end up without any internship experience, which hurts your chances of getting a job after graduation.

Course Information :

I took B.Tech Computer Science here, and honestly, the course content felt outdated. They need to update the syllabus to match what's actually used in the industry. Some teachers are good, but overall, the course needs a serious revamp to be worth the money.

Fee Structure :

The fees for B.Tech CSE are around ₹1,29,942 per year, which feels like a lot considering the lack of placements and poor infrastructure. Honestly, you're not getting your money's worth. There are better colleges with similar fees and way better facilities.

Faculty :

Some faculty members are really dedicated, but the overall teaching quality is inconsistent. Many teachers struggle to explain complex topics clearly, leading to a lot of backlog students. They need to hire more experienced professors who can actually teach well.

Campus Details :

The campus is pretty basic, nothing to write home about. The infrastructure is old and not well-maintained. Wi-Fi is spotty, and the labs are poorly equipped. They seriously need to invest in upgrading the facilities to attract better students.
