The 2024 placement season at IIT Bombay showcased a blend of achievements and obstacles. The overall placement rate stood at 74.53%, with B.Tech and Dual Degree programs achieving 83.39% and 79.16% respectively. A total of 1,475 students secured placements out of the participating pool. The institute facilitated 1,650 job offers, with over 1350 unique job profiles presented by 364 companies that actively made offers. A broader spectrum of 388 companies participated in the placement drive, with 543 registering for the event.


 In terms of compensation, the highest package reached INR 2.2 Crore per annum, offered by Da Vinci Derivatives for their Amsterdam office. Notably, 22 students accepted offers exceeding INR 1 Crore per annum. The average salary package was INR 23.5 LPA, while the median salary stood at INR 17.92 LPA. International opportunities were also significant, with 78 international offers accepted by the students.


 MBA placements at IIT Bombay achieved a 100% placement rate, with the highest package at INR 72 LPA and an average package of INR 28.01 LPA. For M.Tech programs, 415 out of 497 participating students were placed, resulting in an 83.5% placement rate. MSc programs recorded an overall placement rate of 55.06%.


 The Engineering and Technology sector emerged as the top recruiter, with 430 students being selected by 106 core engineering companies. Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) also played a crucial role, with 258 offers being accepted by the students.


 Compared to the previous year, the average salary package witnessed an increase, and there was a rise in the number of recruiting companies. However, the number of students placed experienced a slight decrease. The global economic situation and geopolitical events, such as the war in Ukraine, impacted the season, leading to a reduction in international recruiters. Despite these challenges, several students secured high-value offers, both internationally and domestically, with packages exceeding INR 1 crore.


 The placement drive commenced in July 2023 and concluded on July 7, 2024, marking a comprehensive effort to provide students with diverse career opportunities. The institute's commitment to fostering strong industry connections and adapting to the evolving market dynamics was evident throughout the placement season.

 A total of 388 companies actively participated in the placement process, with 364 companies extending job offers. The institute hosted 543 registered companies, indicating a robust recruitment ecosystem. The placement drive resulted in a total of 1650 offers, with 22 students securing coveted positions with annual compensation exceeding ₹1 crore. Notably, 78 international offers were accepted, highlighting the diverse career opportunities pursued by IIT Bombay graduates.

The 2022-23 placement season at IIT Bombay demonstrated robust recruitment despite global economic uncertainties, achieving significant milestones. A total of 2174 students registered for the campus placement season, with 1845 actively participating in the placement process. The institute adopted a hybrid mode for conducting interviews, facilitating participation from a wide array of companies.
The highest international package reached ₹3.67 Crore per annum (CPA), while the highest domestic package stood at ₹1.68 CPA.
