How the IIT JAM 2026 counselling schedule works
You must register and fill programme and institute preferences on JOAPS. Seat allocation will be based on your All India Rank (AIR) and the preferences you submit.
After allocation you have three choices: accept & freeze, accept with upgrade, or reject & quit. If you accept, pay the seat booking fee to confirm your seat by the deadline for that list.
Seat booking fees are: GEN/OBC INR 15,000 , SC/ST/PwD INR 5,000 . The application processing fee to apply on JOAPS is INR 750 .
Upload required documents on the portal for verification after seat allocation. Final admission is subject to document verification by the allotted institute.
Multiple admission lists are planned between May and July 2026, including an additional round if needed. The withdrawal window runs from June 3 to July 3, 2026 (31 days).
