IIT Madras Zanzibar Admissions 2026 are now open and applications must be submitted via admissions.iitmz.ac.in . The M.Tech application window opened on 08 December 2025 and closes on 15 April 2026 ; BS applications opened on 03 December 2025 and close on 30 April 2026 .

Screening tests last three hours and will be held at centres in India and abroad. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for online interviews.
Programmes, campus and placements
The Zanzibar campus in Tanzania currently hosts over 129 enrolled students from countries including Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia and Kenya. Degree options for 2026 include BS in Data Science & AI and BS in Chemical Process Engineering. M.Tech offerings include Data Science & AI, Ocean Structures and Industrial AI. PhD positions are also available.
The 2025 M.Tech graduating batch recorded 100% industrial placement , and students secured internships with firms such as SuperDoll, Zantel and Airtel. Scholarships from the Airtel Africa Foundation support access for eligible students. The permanent campus at Fumba peninsula is under development and a new hostel block was inaugurated in January 2026 .
