So, IEM Kolkata is a well-known private college in West Bengal, mainly famous for its Computer Science, IT, and Electronics & Communication Engineering programs.

Mechanical at IEM:

Mechanical is a newer branch at IEM, added recently.
College life might feel a bit lacking, with fewer extracurricular activities.
Only a few faculty members are really supportive in these newer branches.
Classrooms and labs for Mechanical aren't the best; the department is on the Management campus.
Students might have to follow rules and attend seminars that don't quite align with their goals.
The course content isn't super focused on what the industry needs right now.
For placements, most Mechanical students end up in IT companies.
You might not get much help for GATE prep here. Faculty mainly focus on attendance.
However, Mechanical students are active in student chapters like IEEE and ISHARE.

IEM might be good for other fields, but if you're set on Mechanical, you might want to explore other options.
