IIT Guwahati's Mechanical Engineering department is pretty solid! It's ranked well and known for research, especially in automobile development and robotics. The faculty is experienced, and if you're aiming for it, the JEE-Advanced cutoff in 2019 was around 2102-9024 for general category students.

Placements :

In 2018-2019, the mechanical department had about an 87% placement rate. Many got placed in PSUs and core companies, but some also landed software and marketing jobs. The average package was around 11 lakhs, and the highest was 35 lakhs.

Campus Life :

The campus is huge, about 2.849 square kilometers, located in Assam. You get basic amenities in the hostels, plus sports facilities, TV, indoor games, and a gym. Outdoor sports like basketball, volleyball, and football are also available. Wi-Fi is available everywhere, and there are separate accommodations for boys and girls. Medical facilities are available on campus.
