In 2019, IIT Kharagpur had a pretty good placement season! Over 1300 students got job offers during the first phase. What's really cool is that on the very first day, five students landed dream packages of over INR 1 Crore per year!

Around 220 companies from various sectors like software, analytics, consulting, banking, and finance showed up for the first phase. Big names like Microsoft and Goldman Sachs were the top recruiters, offering 24 and 14 jobs, respectively. Plus, there were more than 500 internship offers for students during the summer.

Japan was the leading international recruiter, making the most offers. Out of 23 international offers, 11 came from four Japanese firms. Sixteen new companies, including ARPWood Capital and Blackrock, also joined the placement drive. Rakuten, another Japanese company, made several international offers, and even German companies offered jobs for the first time at IIT Kharagpur.

About 40% of the jobs were in IT and software, followed by core engineering at 20%. E-commerce and analytics companies each made up 15% of the offers, and finance companies accounted for 10%. Companies like Flipkart, Qualcomm, and JP Morgan made the most job offers. The average CTC for the batch stayed steady at 15 LPA.
