At NIT Trichy, if you're from the General category, you might get into branches like:

Metallurgy
Chemical
Production Engineering
Civil
Instrumentation and Control
Some other lower-ranked branches

If you belong to the OBC category, you might even snag Computer Science or Mechanical.
