Why is it CST and not CSE in IIEST Shibpur?

Well, the reason IIEST Shibpur calls it CST instead of CSE is mostly historical. Back in 1982, when computer science departments were starting at IIEST Shibpur and IIT Bombay, they just picked different names and those names stuck around. So, don't worry too much about the name; the course content is basically the same as CSE.

It's kind of like how BESU Shibpur used to give marks in percentages, while other top engineering schools like NITs and IITs used grade points. These little differences don't really matter for your career. CST is pretty much the same as CSE!
