So, BITS Goa and Hyderabad weren't just random choices. There was a lot of planning that went into setting them up.

I heard from a BITS Pilani faculty member that Mr. K. K. Birla wanted to expand BITS way back in the 90s. He asked the administration to find a good spot for a second campus. During the tech boom, they picked Goa because it's between cities like Bangalore and Mumbai and has an airport. This made it easier to get faculty from IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore. Plus, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, who was the CM then, quickly approved the project, which helped get the Goa campus up and running fast.

The Hyderabad campus has a similar story. Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, the CM of Andhra Pradesh at the time, asked BITS to start a campus there. He gave them land, and they built it quickly. By the time the first students arrived in 2008, the campus was ready.
