From what I've heard, placements at NIT Srinagar, especially for Chemical Engineering, can be a bit up and down. It really depends on the year and a bunch of factors like what's happening in Kashmir and the faculty situation.

Core Companies:

Vedanta is pretty much the main company that shows up. Only a few students (like 3-4) get placed with them, usually at around 8 LPA.
Apart from Vedanta, not many other core companies come to NIT Srinagar specifically for chemical engineering.

Non-Core Companies:

A lot of non-core companies do visit and offer placements to students from any branch.
The average salary package from these companies is about 3-4 LPA.

Basically, only a small percentage (around 9-10%) of Chemical Engineering students manage to get placed right after their B.Tech. The rest often end up preparing for the GATE exam.
