How good is IIIT Bhopal for students?

From what I've heard, IIIT Bhopal can be a pretty cool place to study. A friend of mine really enjoyed his time there, especially because it's easy to get to from different states.

Academically, it’s considered better than many NITs, even though it's relatively new.
The syllabus is quite flexible in the first year.
The curriculum is moderately challenging, especially when compared to IIIT Sri City.
The faculty is mainly from NIT Bhopal, with some IT/CSE teachers hired on contract.
Hostels are located in RGPV, about 18 km away, but there’s free transportation.
You get your own room, and it’s quite affordable, costing around ₹2.5k per month.
There aren’t any medical facilities at the hostel.
For fun, you can enjoy MANIT’s fest, though you won’t have access to their societies.
You might get to visit IIIT Allahabad for sports events.
