Well, at Jadavpur University (JU), changing your branch isn't generally an option. Unlike some NITs and IITs, JU doesn't have a common syllabus for all departments in the first year. Each department has its own specific syllabus right from the start. So, switching branches isn't really feasible. However, if you get admitted to a department, you can still try for sports quota admissions if there are open spots.
