From what I've heard, IIIT Allahabad's placement scene can be a bit of a mixed bag, especially for M.Tech Bioinformatics. Here's the deal:

Generally, B.Tech students get the most placement opportunities.
Sometimes, M.Tech students might find fewer options, and your B.Tech background can matter.
Many companies focus on recruiting from IT and CS branches, which can limit opportunities for other specializations.
In 2020, only a handful of Bioinformatics students (around 8) secured placements.

Keep in mind that individual performance plays a big role. Unfortunately, Bioinformatics placements haven't been great historically. Other specializations like SE, IS, HCI, WCC, CLIS, and RO tend to have better placement rates.

If your main goal is a solid placement after your M.Tech, IIIT Allahabad might not be the best choice. But, if you're more interested in higher studies and research, it could still be a good fit!
