Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), a part of Anna University, is definitely a top engineering college in Tamil Nadu, alongside IIT Madras and NIT Trichy.

However, there's been a dip in student quality lately. While students share some responsibility, the institute needs to step up by hiring better faculty. Talented students need motivated teachers to push them, which seems to be lacking, affecting research and startup activities.

MIT stands out because students play a big role in running things. Clubs, committees, and hostels are all student-managed. With smaller batches, many students pick up management skills, which helps them later on.

Many MIT alumni are now at top places like IITs and Oxford. With their experience, MIT has the potential to regain its past glory.
