So, from what I've heard and seen on IIT Mandi's website, the faculty setup is pretty standard for newer IITs, except for IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Hyderabad, which seem to have a slight edge.

I have a friend in Mechanical at IIT Mandi, and he mentioned that many faculty members there are actually married couples. Apparently, one gets a job, and then they recommend their spouse.

Now, when it comes to research, the Mechanical branch might not be the strongest. My friend said some faculty members tend to just cram research papers to get new ones published. He even knows someone who became an associate using this method. So, if you're aiming for higher studies in Mechanical, IIT Mandi might not be the best choice.
