IIT BHU has been around for a long time, so it has a huge alumni network, which can really help with placements. Plus, its labs are super established since it's a 100-year-old institution.

IIT Indore is newer and still growing. Now, when you look at the NIRF Rankings, IIT BHU usually scores higher. The mechanical department at IIT BHU is one of the oldest, with lots of experienced professors. They even have a lab sponsored by DRDO for research. The courses are pretty similar at both colleges, but IIT Indore has newer buildings because it was established more recently (2008).

Outside of studying, IIT BHU has a ton of clubs and councils like Sports, Science and Tech, Film & Media, and Cultural Societies. They also have three big fests—Spardha, Technex, and Kashiyatra—where students from tons of colleges participate. When it comes to placements, top companies like DRDO, ISRO, Maruti, and L&T visit IIT BHU. In 2019, about 109 students from mechanical got placed with an average salary between 10 LPA and 58.21 LPA. IIT Indore's average was around 16 LPA. So, IIT BHU seems to have an edge in placements.
