<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Kerala Legislative Assembly passed Act 22 of 1996, establishing Kannur University (KU). The University had already come into being under the name "Malabar University" even before the Governor of Kerala issued an Ordinance on November 9, 1995. The Kannur University Act 1996 established a teaching, residential, and affiliating institution in the Kasargod and Kannur revenue districts and the Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District in Kerala. It is an exceptional University based in India because it is a multi-campus institution with campuses dispersed across its authority. To add, the University is also UGC-approved.</span></p>
