calculator CUET 2026: NTA bans calculators for all streams

NTA has prohibited the use of any calculator in CUET 2026 across all academic streams. The rule covers physical, scientific, virtual and on-screen calculators and applies equally to commerce, science and arts candidates.

calculator CUET 2026: What the ban requires

The CUET exam window is May 11–31, 2026 and centres will not provide any calculator functionality. All calculations and rough work must be done only on the blank rough sheets supplied at the examination hall.

Candidates must write their Name and Application Number on each rough sheet before using it and hand the sheets back to the invigilator at the end of the test. The NTA’s information bulletin makes these steps mandatory under exam day procedures.

calculator CUET 2026: Permitted items and ID rules

Bring your admit card, the required self-declaration undertaking, one passport-size photograph (same as uploaded) and a valid photo ID as listed by the NTA. PwD/PwBD candidates must carry the relevant certificate.

Use only a transparent ball-point pen in the exam hall. Do all numerical work on the provided rough sheets; do not attempt calculations on any other paper or device.

Penalties and security rules students must note

Bringing a calculator or other barred items can lead to Unfair Means (UFM) proceedings. The NTA may debar candidates for up to 3 years for serious offences and may initiate criminal or other actions as necessary.

There will be no arrangements at centres to store candidates’ belongings. Avoid bringing prohibited electronic or metallic items to prevent delays and possible disciplinary action.

Practical impact for commerce and accountancy students

Commerce students must prepare to solve numerical questions without electronic aids—practice timed mock tests and sharpen mental-math and approximation skills. On exam day, use the rough sheets efficiently and keep steps legible to avoid rework.

Candidates wearing articles of faith should arrive at the testing centre at least two hours before the reporting time to allow for appropriate frisking without disrupting the facility’s security checks.

    Quick checklist for CUET day

    • Carry admit card, ID, passport photo and self-declaration.
    • PwD/PwBD certificate if applicable.
    • Use only a transparent ball-point pen.
    • Do all calculations on centre-provided rough sheets and write Name & Application Number on each sheet.
    • Do not bring calculators, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, watches or other barred items.

This guidance follows the NTA’s official CUET instructions for exam conduct and security. Students should follow all exam day guidelines without exception to avoid UFM charges and related penalties.
