CBSE Curriculum 2026-27 released for Classes IX–XII
CBSE released the CBSE Curriculum 2026-27 for Classes IX and X on April 2, 2026 . The board published the curriculum PDF on cbseacademic.nic.in and says the documents apply to Classes IX, X, XI and XII .
The curriculum for Classes XI and XII was released a day earlier, on April 1, 2026 . CBSE has stated this curriculum and the scheme of studies will be followed until 2031 (about five years).
What the CBSE Curriculum 2026-27 covers
CBSE says the 2026-27 curriculum is aligned with recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework . Key emphases listed by the board are:
- Competency-based education
- Experiential learning
- Skill-based learning
- Increased flexibility in subject choices and holistic development
A revised scheme of studies has been introduced specifically for Class IX from the 2026-27 session. No subject-wise topic lists, marks distribution or assessment changes were published in the initial release.

To help schools understand the updates, CBSE is conducting a special webinar on April 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM at its Dwarka headquarters; the session will be streamed online. The board has not yet published teacher training plans, implementation timelines, or detailed assessment changes.
What’s missing in the release
The published materials do not include subject-wise syllabi at topic level, marks weightage, assessment scheme changes, or state-board alignment information. CBSE has not listed contact details or a circular number with this release.
