Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026

JoSAA 2026 counselling registration opens on June 2, 2026 at josaa.nic.in. Candidates with JEE Main 2026 and JEE Advanced 2026 ranks must register on the portal to fill choices and complete online verification.

Only candidates with a JEE Advanced 2026 rank are eligible for IIT seats. Candidates with a JEE Main 2026 rank can participate for admissions to the NIT+ System (NITs, IIEST, IIITs, GFTIs).

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026: What to upload for NIT+ System

If you are applying under the NIT+ System with a JEE Main 2026 rank, upload these documents in your JoSAA login during registration:

    • Class X mark sheet/ certificate or Aadhaar card or birth certificate (for date of birth)
    • Class XII mark sheet and certificate (qualifying examination)
    • JEE Main 2026 admit card
    • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS) in Government of India format, issued by the competent authority
    • Crossed bank cheque copy or an image of your passbook showing bank account details
    • Medical certificate
    • OCI certificate / PIO card, if applicable
    • Passport or citizenship certificate, if applicable

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026: PwD and category papers

If you have a disability, you must upload the original PwD certificate issued by the competent authority. Candidates with less than <40% disability who have difficulty in writing must upload the original certificate that confirms this condition.

Category certificates must follow the GoI format and be issued by the competent authority. Verification officers will check authenticity and may flag mismatches.

How verification works and what you must do

Document verification is carried out entirely online through the official JoSAA portal. Verification officers may raise queries or flag discrepancies in your dashboard. These will appear as online queries that you must answer within the stated deadline.

If you do not resolve dashboard queries before the deadline, your allocated seat will be cancelled and you will be disqualified from further JoSAA rounds. NIT+ System candidates must ensure all required files are uploaded at registration to avoid such issues.

Check your JoSAA login frequently after registration. Keep scanned copies of original certificates ready and follow instructions from verification officers through the portal to protect your seat.

This notice covers the core documents and verification rules announced for JoSAA 2026 counselling. Prepare the listed papers before registration opens on June 2, 2026 to avoid last-minute problems.
