MHT CET Cut-Off 2026: Expected CAP Cutoffs, Percentile Targets for Maharashtra Engineering Admissions
Official MHT CET 2026 CAP cutoff is expected to release around June–July 2026. Article updated on Apr 17, 2026 .
MHT CET Cut-Off 2026: What to aim for
Percentile matters more than raw marks in counselling. For general-category candidates, expect to need 98+ percentile for admission to top government colleges and very high-demand branches like CSE.
Experts suggest category targets as: General 98+ , OBC/EWS 96–98 , and SC/ST 85–90 percentile ranges. The qualifying percentile is likely to remain near 40–45 for general candidates.
Aim-for marks guidance:
| Target | Approx. marks (out of 200) | Approx. percentile |
|---|---|---|
| Top-tier colleges (CSE) | 180+ | ~ 99+ |
| Good state/private colleges | 130–160 | ~ 97–98+ |
| Strong chance for many branches | 150+ | ~ 98+ |
MHT CET Cut-Off 2026: Top college expectations
Top Maharashtra colleges will keep very high closing percentiles for CSE and related streams. Historical and expected figures indicate closing percentiles frequently in the high 98s to 99.9 range.
| College (General) | Expected closing percentile (2026) |
|---|---|
| VJTI (CSE) | 99.3–99.97 (highest reported 99.95 ) |
| COEP (CSE/CS&IT) | 99.6–99.99 |
| SPIT/PICT | 96–99.7 depending on branch |
| VIT Pune (CSE) | 98.0–98.25 |
For Mechanical and lower-demand branches, closing ranks are much lower. Expected rank ranges: CSE around 7,000–10,000 and Mechanical around 40,000–50,000 for many top colleges.
What changes at counselling
Counselling seats and closing percentiles vary by round. Round-wise movement can lower cutoffs slightly in later rounds for less popular branches. Reservation rules give percentile relaxation to reserved categories; expect category-wise shifts of a few tenths to points of percentile.
