FAIMA PIL NTA dissolution was filed in the Supreme Court on May 13, 2026 , asking the court to dissolve the National Testing Agency (NTA) after NEET UG 2026 was cancelled on May 12, 2026 over paper leak allegations.

The NEET exam had been held on May 3, 2026 , with more than 22 lakh candidates appearing. Authorities reported that about 140 questions matched circulated "guess papers" shared on messaging platforms.

FAIMA PIL NTA dissolution: What the plea asks

FAIMA's petition seeks formal dissolution of the NTA and creation of a new, transparent examination authority with stronger technological safeguards. The plea calls for a transition to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and digital locking of question papers to reduce physical handling.

The doctors' body has asked the Supreme Court to place the re-conduct of NEET UG 2026 under judicial supervision and to set up a High-Powered Monitoring Committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge and technical experts.

FAIMA also requests that the CBI be directed to file a status report on arrests, investigations and prosecution progress connected to the alleged leak network.

    CBI probe, arrests and timeline

A CBI investigation was ordered from May 12, 2026 onwards after the cancellation. Multiple arrests were reported across states including Maharashtra and Rajasthan as part of the probe.

Key dates: NEET UG 2026 was conducted on May 3, 2026 ; paper leak allegations surfaced between May 3–4, 2026 ; the exam was cancelled on May 12, 2026 ; and FAIMA filed the Supreme Court plea on May 13, 2026 .

FAIMA PIL NTA dissolution — impact on students

The petition does not change immediate administrative orders already issued by the NTA. Candidates will not need to re-register for the re-NEET UG 2026 and the application fee will be refunded automatically for the re-exam.

The NTA has said it will announce fresh exam dates and issue updated admit cards. Students should monitor official NTA channels for confirmed schedules and admit card downloads.

What the plea seeks from authorities

FAIMA’s demands focus on systemic reforms: replacing the testing agency, adopting CBT, implementing digital locking, and ensuring independent oversight through judicial supervision and a High-Powered Monitoring Committee.

The Supreme Court will decide whether to entertain the reliefs sought. Meanwhile, the CBI probe and the re-examination timetable remain the immediate developments that will determine next steps for candidates and admissions authorities.
