The ShaktiShree app offers 24/7 SOS alerts , anonymous harassment reporting, mental health support features and a direct connection to institutional Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs). The state government described the app as a tool to improve safety and accessibility for girl students in higher education institutions.

Alongside the app, Majhi released internship guidelines aimed at integrating academic learning with real-world exposure. The guidelines promote skill-based learning, community engagement and industry-ready internships, aligning with NEP 2020 objectives.

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj described the launch as transformative, saying it “marks a new phase in Odisha’s higher education journey” and will equip students, especially young women, with tools and exposure needed for a changing job market.

The two-day national workshop served as a forum for policymakers, academics and institutional leaders. Discussions focused on raising the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), promoting multidisciplinary education and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

Officials did not provide technical rollout details at the launch. The announcement concentrated on the app’s core support features and the policy direction of the internship guidelines.
