Life at IISc Bangalore is quite unique! The campus is beautiful, and the new hostels are pretty comfortable. The mess offers a choice of South and North Indian meals (both veg and non-veg), but you might get bored of the taste after a while. Luckily, there are plenty of food joints that deliver right outside the hostels.

Academically, it can get hectic, and you'll spend a good amount of time studying.

Socially, there are tons of student-run clubs, like Dance, Music (Classical and Rock), Theatre, and Sports. They also conduct regular workshops. Other clubs include the Nature Club, Vivekananda Circle, Adventure Club, Notebook Drive (which simplifies lessons for school students), Bird Watchers Club, Photography Club, and Yoga Club. Students come from all over India, and most festivals are celebrated by everyone.

The Gymkhana has great sports facilities like badminton, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and swimming.

IISc has excellent infrastructure, and the professors are highly qualified. Nobel Laureates often visit to share their knowledge. They also organize an Open Day where anyone can visit and see cool experiments and models. School and college kids can participate in quizzes and competitions.

IISc students organize a fest called Pravega, similar to other college fests, with competitions and concerts.

For engineering courses, there are more male students. The male-female ratio is better in core sciences and undergraduate courses.
