CBSE Class 12 results 2026: Evaluators recalled after OSM glitches
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recalled evaluators to complete Class 12 answer-sheet checking after On-Screen Marking (OSM) technical issues in remote regions affected progress on the CBSE Class 12 results 2026 timeline.
CBSE Class 12 results 2026: Why evaluators were recalled
CBSE introduced On-Screen Marking this year to scan answer sheets at regional centres and let teachers mark scanned copies on central servers. The system is meant to improve security, prevent bias and speed up post-evaluation processing.
Some remote centres reported technical compatibility and connectivity problems that stopped teachers from logging into servers or completing marking. The board had trained evaluators and run mock evaluations, but persistent network issues in a few locations slowed finalisation.
Evaluators must be teachers with subject-specific credentials, have OSM training and secure login access to central servers. Reliable internet remains essential for remote evaluators to complete marking under the new system.
CBSE Class 12 results 2026: Current status and next steps
The majority of Class 12 evaluation work is complete. Officials estimate about 2 lakh answer sheets may still be pending out of nearly 1 crore sheets handled this season, covering exams taken by over 15 lakh students.
To finish remaining work, CBSE called teachers back for two additional days of checking. Evaluation finalisation is expected by May 9, 2026 . After that, the board will move to result compilation and post-evaluation processing.
Before OSM, post-evaluation steps including transport and uploading often took about 10 days . With OSM’s scanned workflow, CBSE expects post-evaluation processing to be faster — possibly completed within a day or two after marking ends.
The board has indicated there should be no major shift to the result schedule and the CBSE Class 12 results 2026 are tentatively expected on May 12, 2026 . Students should watch official CBSE channels for confirmation once evaluation is finalised.
Immediate student impact: pending marking work and technical fixes are limited to a few regions and should not affect the overall release window if the current timeline holds. Schools and students will get final confirmation from the board after evaluation closure.
What changed this year
- Introduction of On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 evaluation
- Central scanning at regional centres and online marking on central servers
- Teacher training and mock evaluations conducted ahead of full rollout
The board’s switch to OSM aims to strengthen security and speed up results, but remote connectivity remains the key operational challenge for full, smooth adoption this year.
