CBSE result abbreviations: What RT, COMP, ABST and RW mean on Class 12 Results 2026

CBSE declared the Class 12 Results 2026 on May 13, 2026 , for more than 18 lakh students. The scorecards show short forms — commonly listed as RT, COMP, ABST and RW — that affect next steps for students.

What RT and other CBSE result abbreviations mean

RT stands for Repeat Theory . It means you did not clear the theory paper in that subject and must reappear only for the theory examination, not the practical.

CBSE uses other abbreviations too. COMP indicates a compartment status, ABST means absent, and RW appears for answer-book related remarks. If you have any of these on your marksheet and failed a subject, you must appear in the compartment/improvement exam.

Students must secure a minimum of 33 percent in theory and practical separately to pass. If you miss the pass mark in even one subject, CBSE expects you to sit the compartment or improvement exam scheduled for July 15, 2026 .

How to check CBSE result abbreviations on UMANG and Digilocker

You can access your marksheet on the UMANG app and Digilocker. On UMANG, download the app, log in with your mobile number and set up a profile. Search the CBSE tile under "Education", choose "Class XII" or "Marksheet/Results", select the year and enter your roll number , school number and admit card ID as on the admit card.

Digilocker will also host official marksheets; sign in to your Digilocker account to view the digital scorecard issued by CBSE.

    Timeline and immediate student impact

Practical exams were held between January 1 and February 14, 2026 , and board theory exams ran from February 17 to April 10, 2026 . If your marksheet shows RT or COMP, prepare to register and sit the compartment/improvement exam on July 15, 2026 .

If RT appears, focus on the theory syllabus and past papers for that subject — you do not need to repeat practical work. For COMP or other codes, follow CBSE’s compartment guidelines and the application process announced by your school or the board.

Note: Coaching offers appear alongside result coverage. Aakash Institute, for example, has a Re-NEET 2026 batch priced at Rs. 99 , starting May 16, 2026 .

For any official clarifications, check CBSE notices and the board’s announcements before taking action on registrations or fee payments.
