Official JEE Main Cutoff 2025 — what the numbers say

NTA released the Official JEE Main Cutoff 2025 after Session 2 results in April 2025 , based on the performance of over 14 lakh candidates. The qualifying percentiles set the minimum floor to be eligible for JoSAA counselling, but they are not admission guarantees.

    Category-wise JEE Main 2025 cutoffs

Category JEE Main 2025 Cutoff (Percentile)
    General (UR) 93.10
    EWS 80.38
    OBC-NCL 79.43
    SC 61.15
    ST 47.90

These are the NTA qualifying percentiles used to allow candidates into the rank list after Session 2.

Expected JEE Main 2026 cutoffs (quick comparison)

Category 2025 Cutoff Expected 2026 Cutoff (Percentile)
    General (UR) 93.10 93–95
    OBC-NCL 79.43 80–82
    EWS 80.38 81–83
    SC 61.15 60–63
    ST 47.90 47–50

Coaching projections point to similar or slightly higher percentiles in 2026. One key driver: total candidates. Unique registrations for 2026 are expected to rise to 15.5–16 lakh .

What these cutoffs mean for college admissions

Qualifying the JEE Main cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling. Actual admission depends on your rank, category, branch and institute demand. For high-demand branches like CSE, the bar is far higher.

Institute / Branch Typical percentile needed
    Top NITs (CSE) 99.5+
    Mid-tier NITs (CSE) 97+
    Top IIITs (CSE) 98+

So, a 93–95 percentile may clear the JEE Main qualifying mark but usually places you short of CSE at top NITs. Mid-tier NITs and other branches remain possible at lower percentiles.
