NEET UG 2026 leak: NTA found full Chemistry match after whistleblower email

The NTA uncovered a breach in NEET UG 2026 integrity after a whistleblower from Sikar emailed a leaked PDF on May 7, 2026 that matched the Chemistry questions exactly. The national exam had been held four days earlier on May 3, 2026 , and the agency moved quickly to investigate.

NEET UG 2026 leak: how it was uncovered

The leaked PDF provided by the whistleblower was compared with the question paper and showed a complete match for the entire Chemistry section and a partial match in Biology. Physics questions did not show the same match. Following the comparison, the NTA identified around 26–27 individuals under suspicion and referred them to the Central Bureau of Investigation for further action.

The probe focused on those involved in paper setting and translation. The NTA’s internal review concluded that a guess paper was circulating before the exam, prompting the referral to the CBI and suspension of those linked to setting and translating question papers.

To safeguard the re-test, the NTA has replaced all previous question setters and translators across Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The agency also strengthened its leadership by appointing a Chief Technology Officer and a Chief Human Resource Officer to oversee digital security and administrative processes for future exams.

The Education Ministry directed District Magistrates to ensure strict on-ground monitoring during the retest. The re-exam is scheduled for June 21, 2026 and will be administered by the NTA under the revised security arrangements.

The NTA has referred the suspected individuals to the Central Bureau of Investigation and said the CBI will lead the criminal inquiry. The exact charges and the scope of the forensic probe will be determined by the CBI as it proceeds with its investigation.

Candidates who sat the exam on May 3, 2026 are affected by the re-exam schedule. The NTA and the Education Ministry have indicated enhanced monitoring and new protocols to restore exam integrity for the retest.

The situation remains under active investigation by the NTA and the CBI. Further operational details and any candidate instructions will come from the NTA ahead of the June 21, 2026 re-exam.
