The Asia Rankings 2026 evaluate institutions on teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. UoH remains among the top 20 Indian universities in the list, underscoring its position among the country’s leading central universities.

THE’s regional table included 929 institutions, making this one of the broadest Asia ranking rounds to date. The rank band reflects UoH’s aggregated performance across THE’s core metrics rather than a single-point score.

UoH’s statement with the ranking noted strong research output in chemistry and life sciences as a key driver of its position. The university also reported steady growth in industry income from consultancy and patents, signalling improved knowledge transfer to the private sector.

The rankings highlighted UoH’s stable international connections through global partnerships, a favourable faculty-to-student ratio, and a high number of PhD graduates — factors that feed both research impact and teaching quality.

J Anuradha, in-charge vice-chancellor, credited the ranking to the combined efforts of faculty, researchers and students. She said the university will continue to focus on impactful research and improving the teaching environment amid rising global competition.

Several Indian institutes chose not to take part in this year’s THE evaluation. BITS Pilani did not submit data for the 2026 round, joining some IITs that have previously raised concerns about the ranking methodology.

The Asia Rankings do not publish all submetric scores publicly for every institution, so the precise breakdown of UoH’s teaching, research and knowledge-transfer scores is not available in the release. Still, the overall placement confirms UoH’s continued regional standing and research strengths.

Further implications for admissions or funding were not detailed in the ranking release or the university statement.
