Delhi medical college Dwarka IG Hospital: campus layout, phases and facilities
The first phase will include the academic block, separate hostels for male and female students, and residential quarters for faculty. Around 1,17,246 square metres will be developed in this phase, including nearly 34,000 square metres of basement area for parking and essential facilities.
Planned academic infrastructure includes modern classrooms, laboratories and advanced teaching facilities. The campus will follow National Medical Commission (NMC) norms; admissions are expected to follow NMC rules, which require NEET qualification for MBBS candidates.
The design will incorporate green building standards: solar power systems, rainwater harvesting, water recycling and energy-efficient infrastructure. Disability-friendly features will include ramps, lifts, Braille signage and wheelchair-accessible pathways.
Safety systems such as CCTV surveillance, fire alarms and other essential safety infrastructure will be installed across the campus.
Construction and oversight arrangements list PWD as the executing agency and the Health and Family Welfare Department as the supervising authority. No details on affiliation, fee structure, hospital bed strength or staffing have been released yet by the authorities.
For students, the new college adds capacity to Delhi’s medical education landscape and creates more seats to compete for through NEET. Officials expect the project to strengthen clinical training by integrating the college within the Indira Gandhi Hospital campus.
