The National Testing Agency (NTA) says it is extending full cooperation to law enforcement after reports of alleged irregularities around NEET UG 2026 surfaced days after the exam.
The agency reiterated that the medical entrance test, held on May 3, 2026 , was conducted across centres in India and abroad under a comprehensive security framework. It named several measures used during the process.
NEET UG 2026: what NTA says about security on exam day
According to the NTA, candidates underwent biometric verification at centres and AI-assisted CCTV monitored rooms from a central control room. Question papers were transported under GPS tracking and carried unique watermark identifiers. The agency also confirmed deployment of 5G jammers at examination centres to block unauthorised communications.
The NTA said the examination "proceeded as planned across all centres on the day," stressing these multiple layers of security were in force to protect the process.
Timeline: when concerns surfaced and how the probe began
The agency received inputs about suspected malpractice on the late evening of May 7, 2026 and escalated the matter to central agencies on the morning of May 8, 2026 . Action and a probe were initiated by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group, prompting national-level involvement.
The NTA said it is providing examination data and technical assistance to investigators and working closely with the authorities in a supporting role.
The agency added that it will not pre-judge the inquiry and that any findings requiring further action will be examined and disclosed transparently following established procedure. It also said any future steps will be taken in consultation with the Ministry of Education.
What this means for candidates now
The NTA urged respect for the integrity of bona fide aspirants, saying the effort of the large majority of candidates is not in question.
